A Day in My Life: The Ultimate Saturday with a Lifestyle Membership at Function Well

Let’s be real. How you spend your weekend sets the tone for the rest of your week. I’m Max, and for me, Saturdays aren’t about sleeping in or ticking off a to-do list. They’re about showing up, moving with purpose, and enjoying everything Function Well has to offer.

Here’s what a Saturday usually looks like for me as a Lifestyle Member.

6:45am – Wake up and fuel up

The sun’s coming up over the river and the air feels fresh. I make a quick coffee at home, grab my gym bag and head to Function Well Newstead for the 7.30am HYROX Conditioning Class.

7:30am – HYROX Conditioning Class
There’s nothing better than training alongside people who are all in. HYROX is full-on but addictive. It’s functional, fast-paced and has that edge that makes you want to push harder. Whether I’m chasing a PB or just enjoying the energy, I always leave this session feeling strong and clear-headed. It sets the tone for the whole day.

8:30am – Recovery starts here
After that kind of session, recovery isn’t optional. I head straight into the Restoration Zone and get into the compression boots. It’s like a reset button for my legs. Quick, easy and I walk out feeling fresh.

9:00am – Red light therapy
Next stop is red light therapy. It only takes 15 minutes but makes a huge difference. Helps with muscle recovery, inflammation and even skin health. It’s warm, quiet and exactly what I need after a solid workout.

9:30am – Breakfast at Rise Café
This is always a highlight. Function Well is all about community, so I get to head down to Rise with a couple of the crew from training and we grab a proper Brisbane breakfast. Think avo, eggs, good coffee and zero rush. It’s more than just a post-gym feed. It’s a chance to hang out, catch up and enjoy the morning.

Midday to afternoon – My time
From here, the day is wide open. Sometimes I stay for a sauna, other days I head home, jump in the pool or just take it slow around the neighbourhood. That’s the best part of being local. I don’t need to squeeze everything into one visit. The space is here whenever I need it.

6:00pm – Reformer on demand
Later in the day, I swing back to the gym and hit the Reformer studio. I jump on the Function Well On-Demand platform, pick a session that suits how I’m feeling and move through it in my own time. No class times, no pressure, just quality movement when it works for me.

8:00pm – Sleep comes easy
After a full day of training, recovery, good food and good people, winding down comes naturally. I make a Switch Adrenal magnesium hot chocolate before bed. It’s part of my nightly ritual now. It helps me relax, switch off and settle into a deeper sleep. I feel balanced, grounded and ready to take on the week.
