What is Hybrid?

As an affiliated HYROX Training Club, HYBRID is designed to prepare you for the physical demands of HYROX events by improving muscular endurance, power, aerobic capacity, and movement efficiency, all while carefully managing load, intensity, and technique to support long-term progression and reduce injury risk.

This 60-minute class brings together expert coaches, progressive group training and a supportive community environment, suitable for both those training for HYROX Brisbane as well as those simply looking to build muscle and improve overall fitness.

We understand our valued members goals and needs can change over time, the uniqueness of HYBRID is whilst the base stimulus is the same for all, members can individualise the program on the Lift+ days relative to their specific goals.

 

HYROX Training Club

HYROX-focused sessions run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, delivering the core elements of HYROX race preparation including running, sled pushes and pulls, functional stations, and pacing strategies with coaches who possess an expert-level understanding of the HYROX competition landscape.

HYBRID is included in our limited Lifestyle membership only; our highest tier membership giving you access to everything Function Well has to offer, across both hubs.

Hybrid – Lift+

This is a strength focused session combining compound strength movements with functional body building to help you get stronger and leaner. End every session with a choice of a programmed finisher. Choose between Accessory Strength or a Conditioning focus to target your specific goals.

HYROX  Capacity

Expect movements like sled pushes and pulls, wall balls, sandbag carries, burpee broad jumps and more — all programmed to improve your work capacity, speed, and resilience. Whether you’re training for your first HYROX or simply looking to level up your conditioning, these HYROX workouts will challenge and prepare you in a measurable, progressive way.

  • When is the next Brisbane HYROX?

    You can see all upcoming HYROX events on the official HYROX Training website here.

  • How fit do I need to do this style of Training?

    All workouts are scalable and suitable to all levels of fitness. You’ll train like an athlete, but you don’t need to be one, nor do you need to be training for HYROX to participate. Our expert coaches will progress you safely and effectively.

  • Is Function Well an official HYROX Training club?

    Yes! Function Well is an official Brisbane HYROX gym. At Function Well, you can focus on HYROX training as well as HYROX recovery, which is just as essential to reduce injury risk and allow you to perform at your best on race day!

  • How far in advance do you need to train for HYROX?

    For optimal performance, we recommend starting your HYROX training at least 8 to 12 weeks before race day. This allows enough time to progressively build the strength, endurance, and functional fitness needed to complete the event with confidence and reduce your risk of injury. If you’re new to fitness or this style of training, it is never too soon to get started.
