This is my take on nutrition and in line with Greg Glassman, CrossFit founders nutrition philosophy.
“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat”.
I know you are probably reading this and thinking, it can’t really be that simple can it? I’m here to tell you it can – for the majority of people.
By sticking to a whole foods diet you will most likely dramatically improve your body composition and correct the following health issues along the way, that may be impacting your energy, mood, over all health and performance:

This simple philosophy makes sense – we should eat the foods which our bodies have evolved to process, as nature intended. When we look at the big picture it really is simple and makes a lot of sense to have a diet based on whole foods.
You can’t tell me eating more protein from organic meats/ or animals that have had a diet that is natural to them, good fats and plants is going to be a bad thing right?
A great DVD to get is Food Inc. It states “the way we eat has changed more in the last 50 years than it has in the last 10000 years; the modern supermarket has on average 47000 products. The Industrial Revolution has made food companies more powerful than ever before”. As a consequence our health, energy and vitality have paid the price.
SO HOW DO YOU KNOW IF IT’S A WHOLE FOOD?
John Mackey the founder of the supermarket giant Whole Foods explains a whole food is a food that has had nothing good taken out of it and nothing bad added to it.
Ask yourself this question at each meal when you look at your plate, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how good you’ll feel and look if you follow this simple principle for the majority of time.

Sticking with the whole foods principle will promote consumption of nutrients that promote lean muscle, fat oxidation and hormonal balance. Food delivers the most benefit when it retains all the nutrients and compounds found in it’s natural form. The best way to achieve this is to buy organic, fresh and local where possible.
