Is Estrogen Imbalance Limiting Your Fat Loss, Mood and More?
Cellulite, PMS, migraines, mood swings, blood sugar imbalances, water retention, fatigue, weight gain, digestive issues, irritability… Chances are if you are a female reading this article, that you have experienced one or more of the above issues. Yes, women are naturally blessed with high Estrogen levels, this is what makes us female in many aspects, but what most people don’t know is that Estrogen Dominance is becoming a big problem in modern-day life, which is significantly accredited to environmental exposure, Hormone Replacement Therapies, stressful lifestyles and insufficient function of other hormones causing an imbalance.
This is not to say Estrogen in ‘bad’, as true wellness comes from body homeostasis (balancing), which includes having these hormones carry out their processes correctly, at the right times and in the right amounts. Estrogen Dominance is caused by either too much estrogen in the body, or an imbalance of estrogen in relation to other hormones, most commonly, Progesterone.
Estrogen’s primary role is to optimise female fertility but also affects skeletal growth, skin, fat and protein deposition, and electrolyte balance. Men also produce a certain amount of estrogen. As a result, they can suffer the effects of Estrogen dominance, too. The reduction of estrogen in women leads to a reduction of body fat in areas such as hips, buttocks and thighs.
