Overview

My name is Sarah Upton. I have been part of the Function Well team for 2 years now.

I have always had a passion for sport and physical activity, which eventually drove me to signing up to my local gym. Since then I haven’t been able to get enough, and my never-ending desire to keep improving myself has become somewhat of an obsession. My own training consists of high- volume strength training, where I enjoy constantly pushing myself to new limits. This personal drive to be strong, and continuously develop my physical abilities, has resulted in a passion to help others feel the way I do about fitness.

Since the beginning of my own fitness journey, I knew that I wanted to use my knowledge and experience to help others on their journey. Now, at Function Well, I have the chance to do just that, and I’m thrilled to now be able to head into work each day to train with my clients.

Coaching Philosophy

Being able to help people to better themselves and achieve extraordinary things with their health and fitness is the passion that underpins my holistic coaching philosophy. I aim to work with my clients in a structured, thorough and purposeful way; helping them reach their goals and get as strong as possible, without compromising functionality and flexibility. I believe that it is important we nourish our body to ensure it can carry us throughout our lifetime and handle anything we ask of it. In addition to this, I believe every person deserves to feel comfortable in their body and recognise that they can take control of their health.

With my clients, I practice strength training, functional movement, circuit, aerobic and plyometrics to maximise their performance results. It is important to know that there is no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to someone’s health, but with the never-ending [and often contradictory] sources of information re health and fitness, many people find it overwhelming. I have made it my goal to filter through the information and deliver the most reliable facts to my clients – designing a personal programme which is customised to suit their lifestyle. When my guidance and motivation is coupled with the positive actions and achievement of my clients, I know, together, we can achieve great things.
