Sam Butterworth graduated high school as Vice-Captain from St Laurence’s College in 2012. After completing one semester of Architectural Design at QUT in 2013, Sam decided to leave undergraduate study as he realised his passion did not lie within the creative industry, but within the ever so growing world of health and fitness and has been working as a Fitness Professional ever since.
Since he was capable enough to hold a ball between two hands, Sam has been involved with various amounts of sport and physical activities and hasn’t stopped. This involves opportunities to play rugby at representational level, including 1st XV, regional and State honours.
Training for performance has always taken up a large component of his exercise regime and with such involvement in sport, a well planned training program in conjunction with a nutritious diet has become a set routine in his day-to-day life. He enjoys both the mental satisfaction and personal gain that one gets when giving it your all in the weights room or on the running track.
Sam is ecstatic to now be apart of the team and looks forward to having a positive impact within the Function Well fitness community.
In this age, we can often get caught up with the ‘latest and greatest’ training and diet fads. Forget the “Ab Master 2000” or the “Super Blender v3.0”, my approach to coaching focuses on doing the basics right to yield the best and most sustainable results. This Includes:
1. A well planned resistance training program aimed to increase strength and improve body composition.
2. Eating an abundance of nutritious foods to fuel performance and improve health and well-being.
3. Using mobility, stretching and foam rolling drills to increase recovery and enhance the body’s ability to move better!
I am a firm believer that no matter what your fitness goal is, big or small, that it should be embraced as an exciting journey with an end result of a fitter and healthier version of you. If you work hard, and make small incremental changes to your training and nutrition then I have no doubt that you are going to achieve some amazing results. Making a positive change shouldn’t be a hassle, and I strive to make the journey as enjoyable as possible for each and every one of my clients.
