Anti-inflammatory Tumeric Latte

 

Spring is finally upon us and what way to spring clean your diet than with this anti-inflammatory tumeric latte. This is not called golden milk for no reason; the active ingredient in tumeric, curcumin, gives tumeric that potent yellow colour is full of antibacterial properties to boost gut health, is a powerful antioxidant to fight off many diseases, and is linked to the prevention of some inflammatory diseases. So why not put that second cup of coffee down and replace it with this nourishing drink that is sure to boost your health!

 

 

Recipe:

2 cups almond or coconut milk
1 teaspoon raw honey (or
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean extract
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick

Method:

Combine milk, honey, vanilla, turmeric, ginger and cinnamon in a pot.
Place over a low heat and whisk until combined.
Heat the milk and aromatics until hot.
Pour the milk into 2 serving cups and enjoy.
Additions: black pepper, cardamom

Serves 2.

 

Modifications:

  • For a vegan version, swap the honey for rice malt syrup, maple syrup or stevia
  • Need a refreshing drink for the hot weather? Cool the latte down, add ice cubes and serve cold
  • Use as a base for your next smoothie!
